Chronic Diarrhoea

Comprehensive Care for Intestinal and Bowel Disorders

The small intestine and large intestine play an essential role in digestion, nutrient absorption, and normal bowel function. Disorders affecting the intestines may cause abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, blood in stool, weight loss, anaemia, or changes in bowel habits. Some intestinal disorders are functional and do not damage the bowel, while others may cause inflammation, ulcers, narrowing, bleeding, or long-term complications. Persistent or recurrent symptoms should be evaluated to identify the underlying cause and begin appropriate treatment. Dr. Dipankar Das provides comprehensive evaluation and management of intestinal disorders using blood and stool tests, colonoscopy, biopsy, advanced imaging, and individualized medical treatment.

What is Chronic Diarrhoea?

Chronic diarrhoea refers to frequent loose or watery stools lasting for more than four weeks. It may result from infections, IBS, IBD, coeliac disease, food intolerance, malabsorption, pancreatic disease, thyroid disorders, medication side effects, or colorectal conditions. Because the causes are varied, treatment should be based on the underlying diagnosis rather than relying only on anti-diarrhoeal medicines.
